Bollywood actress Nushrat Bharucha recently visited the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain. She went there ahead of the New Year. Soon after, videos of her offering prayers went viral on social media. The visit has now turned into a controversy.

Maulana Reacts Strongly
Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi from Bareilly reacted sharply to Nushrat’s temple visit. He is the national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat. According to him, Nusrat violated Islamic rules. He said offering water at the Mahakal temple and applying sandalwood paste on the forehead go against Shariat.
The Maulana called it:
“Gunah-e-Azeem” means a very serious sin.
He also stated that the actress should repent and recite the Kalma again. His statement has sparked debate online.
Nushrat Bharucha’s Belief in All Religions
Nushrat Bharucha belongs to a Muslim family. However, she has openly spoken about her faith in all religions. In a podcast, she shared that she has been visiting temples, gurdwaras, and churches since childhood. She has also visited Vaishno Devi and Kedarnath. The actress revealed that she observes the 16 Friday fasts of Mata Santoshi as well.
She believes in praying with full devotion, regardless of religion.
Her Film Career Update
On the work front, Nusrat was last seen in the horror film ‘Chhori 2’, released in 2025. She will next appear in Anurag Kashyap’s film ‘Ban Tikki’. She is also part of an upcoming big project by Luv Ranjan. The film will feature Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor.
