Popular Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar has landed in controversy once again. Her recently released song Candy Shop has sparked strong reactions, following which a formal complaint has been filed against her.

Complaint filed over alleged obscene content
The complaint was submitted to the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR). The complainant, Dr. Panditrao Dharenwar, alleged that the song contains visuals and lyrics that are inappropriate for children. This could negatively affect their mental development.

According to the complaint, certain scenes in the song violate child protection norms and promote content that is not suitable for young audiences.
High Court order cited in complaint
Dr. Dharenwar also mentioned that the song allegedly violates a Punjab and Haryana High Court order dated July 22, 2019. It raised concerns about the spread of content that may harm children psychologically.
He claimed that such content should not be freely available on public platforms where children can easily access it.

Child Rights Commission seeks national-level action
Taking the matter seriously, the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights wrote a letter to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). In the letter dated January 9, 2026, SCPCR Chairman Kanwardeep Singh stated that the issue is of national concern.
The Commission demanded strict legal action against Neha Kakkar and urged authorities to immediately remove the song from YouTube and other social media platforms.
Demand for FIR registration
Apart from this, Dr. Dharenwar has also appealed to the DGP of Punjab to register an FIR in the matter and conduct a proper investigation.
Awaiting official response
As of now, Neha Kakkar has not released any official statement regarding the allegations. The issue continues to draw attention on social media and in entertainment circles.
