A series of hunger strikes are being held in support of farmers near the Darshani Deodhi outside the historic Gurdwara Singh Shaheed here. Prominent Punjabi singer Harbhajan Mann arrived here today to encourage the farmers. Keeping the farmers in mind, he released his song and said,
Today marks a full month of a series of hunger strikes in support of the United Farmers Front. Harpreet Singh Tinka, Didar Singh, Nachhatar Singh, Jasvir Singh, Balvir Singh, Amanpreet Singh, Bant Singh, Harinder Singh Nambardar from Sukhgarh were on hunger strike today.
Addressing the farmers on the occasion Mr. Harbhajan Mann said that every day he was seeing children, youth and senior citizens standing at various places and intersections of Mohali, Chandigarh, Panchkula carrying farmer flags in their hands.
They are chanting slogans in favor of the farmers and against the central government. He said that it was his heart’s desire to join the dharna, so today he could not restrain himself and came among the farmers.
He said that now the United States has also confirmed that the peaceful agitation being waged by the farmers in India for the last seven months has never been the longest in the history of the world.
Harbhajan Mann said that there was no instance in the world where the police used batons on the protesters but the farmers gave them langar and chhabils to eat.
He said that as long as this struggle of the farmers continued, the artists of Punjab would also stand firm in favor of the farmers.
On this occasion Harbhajan Mann also released Prabhjot Kaur Dhillon’s fourth book ‘Haq Sach Di Awaaz Kisani Andolan’.
Among others Parvinder Singh Sohana, Amarjit Singh, Davinder Singh, Harwinder Singh and other farmers were also present.
