Filmmaker Karan Johar has finally spoken openly about his much-talked-about weight loss. For months, people speculated about how he transformed himself. Now, Karan has cleared the air and shared honest details about his fitness journey.
No Ozempic, no shortcuts
While speaking on The Maniyavar Shaadi Show, Karan made it clear that he did not use Ozempic or any magic medicine to lose weight. He explained that his transformation came from lifestyle changes, a carefully planned diet, and proper medical guidance.
Rice and potatoes helped, but bread didn’t
One of the biggest surprises from Karan’s journey is his diet choice. Unlike most weight-loss plans that cut out rice and potatoes, Karan said these foods actually worked in his favour.
After medical tests, doctors found that he is gluten and lactose-intolerant. Because of this, wheat-based foods like bread were harming his body. Karan shared that he spent years avoiding rice and eating bread, thinking it would help him lose weight. In reality, rice and potatoes turned out to be his “friends,” while bread was the real problem.
A tough past with extreme dieting
Karan also recalled how, during his college days, he tried extreme diets to lose weight. While following the Atkins diet, he once became so unwell that he fainted in class. After that incident, his mother strictly stopped him from following harsh diet plans.
He added that while his father believed his weight was just “puppy fat,” his mother always spoke honestly about his health.
Key changes that made the difference
As part of his transformation, Karan removed gluten from his diet, gave up sugar, and switched from regular milk to almond milk. He also revealed that he had a thyroid condition, for which he took proper medical treatment.
Understanding gluten intolerance
Gluten intolerance is a condition where the body reacts badly to gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. It can cause symptoms like stomach pain, bloating, fatigue, and discomfort. Foods like rice, potatoes, corn, and millets are usually safer options for people with this condition.
A balanced and informed approach
Karan Johar’s weight loss journey highlights the importance of understanding your own body instead of blindly following trends. His story shows that sustainable results come from the right medical advice, smart food choices, and long-term lifestyle changes.
