Suniel Shetty is one of those actors who prioritizes fitness and does not compromise. He doesn’t think twice, even if it means turning down a role or project. In an interview, Suniel Shetty revealed that despite taking a long break from the film industry, his passion for fitness has kept him relevant. He also revealed that this passion for fitness made him turn down a Rs 40 crore tobacco advertisement campaign. Even if he is not a good fit in terms of box office, millions of youth still consider him an inspiration. This is why he has also turned down a tobacco advertisement.
Suniel Shetty revealed in an interview with “Peeping Moon” that he was deeply saddened by the death of his father, Veerappa Shetty, in 2017. He took a long break from the film industry. He said, “Before he died in 2017, my father had been ill since 2014, and I was taking care of him. My mental state was not good. I had completely stopped working, and then he passed away. However, that same morning, I also got an offer to do a health show.”
Got a health show on the same day my father passed away
Suniel Shetty admitted that after being away from work for almost five years, getting an offer on the day of his father’s death felt like a sign from God. “I took it as an invitation”. He came back to acting and did a few South Indian films. He said, “When you take a break of 6-7 years, you feel like you don’t know your work. Things have changed, and nobody knows you; everyone is new, so I wasn’t comfortable.

‘Started to see myself differently after Covid.’
Suniel Shetty added, “After the COVID pandemic, I started seeing myself differently. I strengthened myself, trained, studied, and did a lot. Then I became so confident in myself. I felt that I didn’t need validation from anyone. God and Goddess Lakshmi have been kind to me. They have been kind whenever I needed them. They have been there for me without asking. It gives me a different kind of confidence. That confidence changed everything in me.”
Suniel Shetty refused to do a tobacco advertisement worth Rs 40 crore
When asked about actors like Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt endorsing tobacco products, Suniel Shetty said that he had deliberately chosen not to endorse such products. It is worth noting that some stars also have their own single malt brands. Suniel Shetty further revealed that he had also turned down an offer of Rs 40 crore for a tobacco ad. He said, “I was offered Rs 40 crore for a tobacco ad. I looked at them and said, “Do you think I will be fooled by money? I will not. Maybe I needed the money, but no, I will not do it. This is something I do not believe in. I will not do anything that will tarnish the image of Ahaan and Athiya. Now, no one even dares to make such offers to me.”
